This policy explains what information is collected about visitors to Hindu Parv (www.hinduparv.com), how it is used and what rights you have. We follow the principle of collecting as little as possible.
1. Who we are
Hindu Parv is a devotional and religious-information website operated by Hindu Parv. For any question about this policy, contact our contact email.
2. No accounts or sign-up
You do not need an account, login or registration to read the site. We do not ask readers for a phone number or email. A name is asked only when you choose to fill in the “Report an error” form (see point 5 below). We take no payments.
3. Information collected automatically
- Page-view counts: how often each article is read and what kind of source the reader came from (search engine, social media, AI assistant or direct). No name, IP address or personal identifier is stored with these counts.
- Daily counts of visits by search-engine and AI crawlers (bots), the bot name only, nothing about people.
- Server logs: our hosting provider may keep standard technical data such as IP address, browser type, time and requested page for a limited period for security and operations.
- Site search: the words you search are used only to show results; we do not link them to you.
4. Settings stored on your device (cookies / local storage)
For your convenience a few small settings are kept only in your browser and are not sent to our server:
- Day/night theme, text size, reading-mode speed and colours.
- Language choice (hp_lang cookie) so the site opens in your language next time.
- Saved list and playlists (bookmarks): when you tap "Save" on a post, its post number, title, link and the time you saved it, plus the names of playlists you create and the posts in them, are kept in your browser's local storage (hp-saved). The saved-posts switcher at the top of reading mode is built from the same data. The list is not stored on our server and is not linked to any person. When you open the "My saved list" page, only the post numbers are sent to our server so that current titles and images can be shown; they are not stored. You can clear the list at any time from that page or by clearing browser data.
- The name you typed in the “Report an error” form (hp-corr-name), so you do not have to type it again. This too stays only in your browser.
- Whether the share prompt was already shown and whether a page view was already counted in this session (session storage, cleared when you close the browser).
5. Error reports you send us
The “Report an error” button under every post lets you tell us about a mistake in an aarti, mantra or article. Using it is entirely optional. When you send a report, our server stores:
- the name you give, the part with the error, the correction you suggest and the source (if you give one);
- which post the report is about and when it was sent;
- a one-way hashed form of your IP address, from which the real address cannot be recovered, and your browser type (user agent). These are used only to stop spam and abuse, for example by limiting how many reports can be sent in a given time.
Reports are read only by our editorial team. They are not published on the site, not sold or shared, and are used only to correct our content. Please do not include a phone number, address or other private details in the form. To have a report you sent removed, write to our contact email.
6. Advertising and analytics (third parties)
To cover running costs we may show Google AdSense ads, and we may use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used. These services use their own cookies or similar technologies.
Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can turn off personalised ads in Google Ads Settings (adssettings.google.com) or opt out of other vendors' cookies at www.aboutads.info.
To learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services, see policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
7. Other external services
- Fonts and style files load from Google Fonts and jsDelivr; your IP address reaches these services when they load.
- When you share to WhatsApp, Telegram, Facebook, Instagram, X etc. or join our channels, you go to those platforms and their privacy policies apply.
- Voice search: when you tap the mic button your browser asks for microphone permission. Turning your speech into text is done by your browser or its provider (for example Google's speech recognition service in Chrome), whose privacy policy applies. We never receive your voice or any recording; only the recognised search words reach our site, like a typed search. The mic is active only after you tap the button.
- We are not responsible for the content or policies of external source links in articles.
8. How information is used
- To show popular articles, improve content and understand which topics readers care about.
- To keep the site secure, prevent abuse and fix technical problems.
- We never sell or rent personal information to anyone.
9. Retention
Page-view and bot counts are kept as statistics that do not identify anyone. Server logs are kept for a limited period under the hosting provider's policy. Error reports are kept for up to one year after they have been reviewed and are then deleted. You can delete the settings stored in your browser at any time by clearing site data.
10. Children
The site offers religious information for readers of all ages, but we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. Decisions about personalised advertising should be made under parental supervision.
11. Your rights
Under applicable Indian law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you may ask to know about, correct or erase your personal data and raise a grievance. Although we normally store no personal identifiers, you can write to our contact email with any request and we will respond within a reasonable time.
12. Security
The site is protected with reasonable measures such as HTTPS, hardened server settings and restricted admin access, but no system on the internet can be guaranteed completely secure.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The new version will be published on this page with its "last updated" date.
